 While
we are proud of the cultural identity in our process of achieving
progress, prosperity and welfare, we would like to point with
great interest to the fact that the Omani citizen should engage in
traditional crafts which were the backbone of our economy in the
past especially agriculture, fishing, animal resources and other
crafts. These crafts play an important role in the development of
the Sultanates economy. Should we neglect them, we would lose the
blessings of Allah. So, we intend to intensify our efforts in this
respect for we believe that societies will only develop if they
respect the professions and crafts of the founding fathers and
grandfathers. The advancement and progress of countries is not
solely measured by architectural boom, but with originality of
such a progress and its absorption of the traditions and
capabilities of the society.
Qaboos bin Said
Sultan of Oman
