The weaving factory in Wilayat Samayel:

Stemming from the keenness of the government of His Majesty the Sultan on maintaining the Omani cultural heritage, and in support of the modern development process as well as linking it with the Omani cultural history, a weaving factory was opened in the Wilayat of Samayel in 1976. The factory depended at the outset on the inherited traditional tools that were used in the manufacture of Omani textiles. Its production covered the widely used textiles such as the Omani Uzar (cloth piece used by men as underwear) and the Omani carpets that are known for their beautiful colors. In order keep pace with the comprehensive development process of the Sultanate in 1984, new machines were introduced for the manufacture of Omani textiles. This helped increase the production of the factory.
