The Public Authority for Crafts Industries aims at developing and improving the present crafts industries so that they can stand firm against foreign competition of similar industries which dump our local and neighboring markets in view of the current commercial openness. With this challenge in mind, it became extremely necessary to develop crafts industries so that they can appear in nice form that guarantees their existence and continuity and maintain their first position of the past and at the same time achieve high standard that satisfies the general taste of consumers. Hence, the efforts of the Public Authority for Crafts Industries to open new marketing outlets in airports, ports and border crossings to help spread our traditional crafts all over the Sultanate.

The opening of the Omani Craftsman's House in Sarouj, Qurum is a clear indication of the Authority's keen interest in placing the crafts industries at the vanguard of traditional works in order to give prominence to our Omani heritage which is part and parcel of the Omani society. The Craftsman's House is a first step towards acquainting people with our crafts industries which reflect most Omani folk arts and embody the various Omani environments.
