Omani Craftsman's House in Muscat was inaugurated on 4/10/2004. It is a permanent exhibition that includes the artistic products of craft industries in all their types and shapes. Its role is focused on highlighting these various industries and creations that reflect all Omani geographical environments with all their cultural and artistic aspects.
Omani Craftsman's House in Muscat is also a marketing outlet that encourages the craftspeople to continue working in these crafts through highlighting their general role in activating tourism movement as being landmarks closely related to Omani folklore heritage that reflects its interchange with heritages of other civilizations.
Given that marketing these crafts is the preoccupation of the Public Authority for Craft Industries, the plan of the Authority is to open more houses for craft industries in other governorates and regions in addition to marketing outlets at airports, ports, and border crossing points in order to spread these industries, distribute their products, and determine the promising markets both inside and outside Oman. However, the success of marketing is contingent upon overcoming the obstacles related to these industries, the most important among which is the volume and quality. Production and marketing processes are closely related. Paying attention to either of them entails paying attention to the other as good production results in good and guaranteed marketing.
Therefore, the Authority does its best to provide artistic quality to craft industries. Moreover, quality enables Omani products to face counterpart products coming from abroad and assert the image and civilization of the Sultanate all over the world. For facing challenge, ensuring continuity, and satisfying general tastes, the Authority has set the factors for developing, qualifying and raising the level of craft industries to be its highest priority.
In addition to the above, the Authority has established another Omani Craft House at Nizwa Castle in a-Dakhiliyyah Region, Center for Training and Production of Textile and Embroidery, al-Kamazrah Fort outlet in the Wilayat of Khasab, Sultan Qaboos Port outlet, Center for Training and Pottery and Crockery Production at the Wilayat of Bahla.
