Industry is the mainstay of life and the main constituent of economy. It is the yardstick of development and progress of nations. Craft industries are not only an important part of industry at large but they are actually its foundation. They are cultural and social heritage passed down from one generation to another, hence the appreciation and attention they should receive. Our great ancestors have woven such splendid artifacts inspired by their daily and life needs. Fortunately, craft industries have been receiving more attention from our prudent government under the insightful leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said who insisted that such ancient elements of heritage should be restored and preserved in order to play their role on both the regional and international domains and become a source for developing national economy.
